Our coding classes aren’t only about computers. They are about how children think. When a child learns to code, they learn to break a big, messy problem into small steps, to work out why something is not behaving, and to try again without falling apart.

They practise logical thinking and creativity in the same breath, one moment planning the logic of a game, the next deciding what it should look like. And they build resilience, because code rarely works first time, and fixing it is where most of the learning happens.

The bigger shift is this: coding moves children from using screens to creating with them which is a good habit to pick up early.

Every session is built around making something, so the learning sticks.

Children get to grips with the building blocks of programming: sequencing, instructions, loops and logic, the ideas that sit underneath every piece of software they will ever use. They put those ideas straight to work on creative coding projects like games, animations and interactive stories, learning to break a tricky task into smaller, solvable steps.

Just as importantly, they grow comfortable using technology in a positive, purposeful way. Tools are matched to age and stage, from visual coding for younger children through to platforms and languages like Scratch, Python and HTML and CSS as they progress.

Our coding classes are designed for children aged 5 to 13, and you do not need a young Einstein to sign up.

Complete beginners are welcome, and so are children who already love messing about with technology. Because activities can be adapted by age, confidence and ability, each child works at a level that feels like a stretch rather than a struggle. Nervous first-timers get plenty of support. Confident young coders get room to push on.

Children are guided through coding challenges and creative projects at their own pace, with an instructor on hand for the moment it all stops working. The best way to understand what your child will get out of coding is to look at what they will make.

In our classes children build simple games, animations and interactive stories, and older ones start designing apps and websites. Coding also opens the door to other activities, because the same skills feed straight into game design for kids, robotics and engineering, digital creativity and web and app development.
